Hey all of you Sheik Fans thought I'd let you all know about the David Poe messageboard....

It's David Poe's first and only messageboard and I'm trying as we speak to get Duncan to join...

Please check it out and join. Post messages for David to see and meet fans of David and Duncan.

Also I got to see both my favorite guys in concert when they were out in Southern California. It was wonderful to get to spend some time with them and converse over glasses of wine.

Thursday my best friend and I saw Duncan Sheik in concert. David Poe opened. David was really good. Too bad most of the people talked throughout his set. (that happened the last time I saw Duncan, when he opened for Aimee Mann.)

Duncan sounded exactly like he does on his albums. He was wonderful. He played my favorite song third (For You), which he told everyone they should make out to.

I bought his limited edition ep, along with a black and white picture.

Oh, and yes. I met the man. I met Duncan Sheik. And I hugged him. Got him to sign both things. My friend tried taking a picture but it was too damn dark for her camera phone.

He's still really hot, even with the unfortunate beard. He asked me if I was ever on the boards and I told him about this place.

I'm still flying about meeting him. Sweet holy crap.

Hey hey, I'm new here, but I just wanted to say...er...hi! I just discovered Duncan Sheik and am completely in love! I bought all his albums in one fell swoop. I mean, I had heard of him before, from his single in 1997, but I hadn't really listened to him until late, and now I can't stop listening to him. Stoked for the new albuM! Anyways, I'm done blubbering now.

Anyone knoe where I can download Duncan Sheik music videos? Preferably "Barely Breathing" and "She Runs Away?" if not the video, then does anyone have to video version of "She Runs Away"? I love that version more than the self title album one.

2:18AM - rare duncan songs

I stumbled upon this tonight and I thought it would be of interest to some of you. It's a web page that has some rare Duncan songs available for download. I had most of them already, but a couple were new even to me. His version of "Karma Police" has to be one of my favorite songs ever. Enjoy!

i was just reading old posts and thinking about the albums duncan has come out with... which would people say is their favorite? i feel "daylight" is his weakest album lyrically.. to me, the jump from "phantom moon" to "daylight" was a strange one; i hadn't expected the more pop-music like turn. but i read several positive opinions on it and i would love to hear people describe its merits and why they like it.

p.s. if anyone hasn't heard duncan's cover of "songbird" i will gladly post it online... i don't know what album it's from but i downloaded it some time ago.. and i'm not sure who did the initial version, i believe eva cassidy..but the cover is beautiful

5:46PM - home at the end of the world

aright so duncan sheik did a lot of the score and a bunch of the songs in this amazing movie called "a home at the end of the world"

but the rest of the soundtrack is pretty crappy and has old songs, so i just want this one song by duncan sheik called "something somewhere"

it's really amazing, and if i wasn't a starving homeless working full time while goign to community college no money having 18 year old i would buy the cd, but i can't.

so i was wondering if anyone here had the mp3, or knew where i could get it, or had the cd and could rip me the track. i would be eternally grateful, and willing to return the favor with any music i have.

thanks

When Duncan released 'Barely Breathing' I loved that song but it wasn't until he made his come back with 'On a High' that I bought an album. Back in October 2003 I saw him open for Ben Folds which was really awesome. Just now I was searching for The Smiths 'Reel Around the Fountain' and found a cover by Duncan. I figured it would turn out not to be him but it was! So this caused me to do a look up on Amazon.com to see if he had a new cd yet which he doesn't but he composed the score to the new Collin Farrell movie 'A Home At The End of the World' including doing a lot of the songs. I just love the music on Daylight (the only cd I own unfortunately) so the music should be gorgeous perhaps even get him an Oscar nod? It's been out since July 20th so I figure some of you must already know about this but I couldn't find any mentions of it.

Info: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002IQC4S/qid=1098220124/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-8185910-2408018?v=glance&s=music

By the way, the 'Reel Around the Fountain' song seems to be cut off at a 1:48, if anyone knows where I can find a longer version I would appreciate it.

i miss duncan sheik. i mean jason mraz is great for the happy days, but duncan sheik is who you can really turn to during the sad moody days... and there are much more days of the later. i just visited the site and i finally got to listen to some songs from 'phantom moon'. i really love 'longing town' but of course everything else is wonderful too. i'm getting to the songs in 'humming'. i wish his new cd will come soon.

oh, and i read somewhere where a reviewer compared him to john mayer. dang how dare they? if it wasn't for sheik, there would BE no john mayer. he's a great musician not getting enough notice. which sometimes feels great because it's like you're keeping him all to yourself.

Hello Everybody,

Duncan here. Welcome to the new duncansheik.com. As you can see we are reconstructing the site from the ground up. Slowly but surely over the course of the next few months we will be adding to and/or changing the contents of the site and how it works. So... a work in progress. For new visitors, a simple discography is available via the link at the bottom of this page.

I am currently in the middle of recording my fifth album. Everything is progressing smoothly, and it should be completed this summer for a late 2004 release. One of the reasons we are redoing this site is to reflect some of the ways in which the new release differs from the previous four in terms of both form and content. Also, if all goes as planned, there will be some interesting ways in which this site and the new release will interact. More on that soon...

Finally, I would like to thank everyone for being patient with me and my, well, spotty track record in terms of communicating with visitors to the site. I shouldn't make any promises, but we are discussing the possibility of incorporating a web log or journal into the new site that I would update as frequently as possible and
that will have a section devoted to visitors' comments. Along with many other additions and changes, there will also be a duncansheik.com store (I promise!)

For those of you who want to continue the message board discussions, there is a link below to a fan site where you can do your thing.

See you all soon I hope,

Duncan
